Health Tips from the Pros:
Get inspiration from dancers, athletes, and wellness professional as they share their personal tips on how to live healthier, happier lives. 

For this segment, we're featuring dancer, choreographer, director, and film-maker, Ashley Marinelli:

1. What three wellness tips do you swear by?

  • Find some way to get your heart rate elevated at least once a day, even if it’s not traditional “exercise”. (Jumping around to a 3 minute song in your apartment is an excellent example)

  • Deep core strength is important, and will help your entire body feel more stable and balanced.

  • Moderation is important. Just because you can do 100 push ups doesn’t mean you should. When the endorphins take over, I’m always tempted to do more, but sometimes more is unnecessary, if not outright harmful.

2. What are three foods you CANNOT live without?

  • oat milk cappuccinos (with good espresso)

  • any and all fresh seafood (oysters, shrimp, scallops, raw fish, etc)

  • green vegetables with an ungodly amount of garlic (broccoli rabe is my kryptonite)

  • prosciutto (I know that’s 4, sorry not sorry)

3. What three fun facts can you share with us that we wouldn’t expect? 

  • My favorite color is neon yellow

  • In my next life I want to be a badass chick drummer 

  • I’m from the same town as FDR, James Earl Jones and Snooki


Ashley Marinelli has worked all around the world. She recently performed and associate choreographed the regional premiere of An American In Paris, associate choreographed Fairy Tale Christmas (a new musical), and just finished choreographing for Royal Carribean International. She is the Assistant Artistic Director of Denman Theatre & Dance Co. and Artistic Director of Marinelli New Dance Theater.
